How to use Desorb

Desorb is a Windows app that removes your old content from the platforms you use, on your own computer.

Getting started

Download Desorb and run the installer. On first launch it walks you through connecting an account.

Desorb uses your existing session where a platform supports it, or the platform's own sign-in window. It does not ask for your password.

Connecting accounts

Open Connections, choose a platform and follow the prompt. You can connect several accounts for the same platform and remove a connection at any time.

Discord asks which browser profile to read and shows a consent screen before it does.

Scanning and reviewing

Open Delete, choose an account and start a scan. Matches appear as a list with text, date and attachments. Nothing is removed during a scan.

Review every match. Nothing runs until you confirm.

Filtering

Narrow the list before you delete. Filters combine:

  • Age: older than a number of days, or before a date
  • Keywords: only items containing a term
  • Channel or server: limit the scope
  • Attachments: only items with images or files

Running a cleanup

Select what to remove and confirm. Desorb works through the list with built-in rate limiting and shows progress as it goes. You can pause, resume or cancel.

If a run is interrupted, for example by a crash or a lost connection, Desorb offers to resume it.

Deletion is permanent. Archive anything you might want later.

Archives

Enable archiving before a cleanup and Desorb saves a copy to a folder you choose, then verifies it before deleting. Browse archives under Archives.

Rules

A rule runs on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule and finds items older than a cut-off. By default it asks you to review the results. Automatic rules delete without asking, up to a per-run limit you set.

History

History lists every completed cleanup with counts for deleted, skipped and failed items. Logs stay on your PC.
